From April 10th - 13th 2018 the Sino-German Symposium within a joint research project entitled "Macrophage Plasticity Deployed for Efficient Bone (Re-)generation" (GZ1094) was held at the University of Würzburg, Germany. Professor Meinel, Chair of Pharmaceutical Technology and Biopharmacy, conducted the conference, in which the progress of the joint Sino-German cooperation project was reported (project number: GZ 1094). The conference is funded by the Sino-German Science Center of the National Natural Science Foundation.
The symposium focused on the "Application of silk fibroin biomaterials in tissue repair". The report had several themes, including new material synthesis based on silk fibroin, interaction of cell-materials for anabolic therapy, in vivo experiments of intelligent-responsive biomaterials and clinical diagnose application of responsive materials. All academic backbones from Sino-German Research Groups (University of Würzburg in Germany and Zhejiang University, Soochow University) gave an overview of the versatile expertise of this Sino-German research network. The chair of Pharmaceutical Technology and Biopharmacy of the University of Würzburg also attended the seminar and participated in the discussion. We conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions on the concerns and shared the current development and future trends of biomedical materials in the medicinal field.
After the report and discussion in symposium, delegations have formed a high consensus and agreed that the cooperative research projects are efficient and pragmatic and have produced innovative and fruitful results of cooperation.
In addition, before the meeting, PhD candidates Yejun Hu and Yishan Chen have already been studying intelligent responsive materials at the University of Würzburg. After the meeting, Yejun Hu will keep on completing the exchange of scientific research at the University of Würzburg in Germany.
