The beautiful morning of April 21st, 2018 marked the start for this year’s International Symposium on Ligaments & Tendons (ISL&T-XVII) hosted by Professor Hongwei Ouyang and Dr.Savio Woo in the historical landmark of Hangzhou, China. The meeting brought together more than 200 scientific leaders from all over the world, creating an environment where researchers come together to collaborate and share exciting research progresses and ideas.
The conference opened with welcoming remarks from Professor Ouyang Hongwei, the conference chair, and Dr.Savio Woo, ISL&T founder. The program then comprised of a clinical lecture by Dr.Shiyi Chen and 3 keynote lectures by Dr.Matthew Fisher, Dr.Kanglai Tang, and Dr.Ramon Cugat.
This year’s program featured multidisciplinary topics starting with a clinical lecture on the “Re-recognition of Synthetics Ligament for ACL Reconstruction: Chinese Experience” followed by an interesting insight on the biomechanics of tendons and ligaments, ACL biomechanics, tissue engineering-based repair and regeneration, and rotator cuff repair and healing. The afternoon topics focused on tendons and ligaments regeneration and healing, tendinopathy and tendinosis, and tendon-related stem cell biology. The high quality presentations, keynote lectures as well as the interactive discussions were enjoyed by all, marking the end of the IST&L-XVII. Let’s carry on this enthusiasm and productive discussion to our future work!
