About Us
    Discipline of pathology and pathogenesis, Basic medical science school of ZJU, consist of 18 teachers, including 7 doctorate professors, 11 Associate Professors/Master Instructors. Every year, we enroll 15-20 graduate students for master and doctorate degree, thus building up a dynamic academic atmosphere.

Teaching feature
     Our teaching coverage not only involved in medical students from basic medical science, clinical medicine, oral medicine, pharmacy, and nursing but also includes forensic medicine for undergraduates, graduates and PHDs. Besides, we also provide some judicial authentication social service work in Zhejiang Province and east china. In the efforts of several generations of Pathologists and pathophysiologists, we have initially formed a rational discipline with powerful teaching and research ability.

Research Feature
     Our research fields mainly focus on oncopathology, chemical carcinogen and molecular oncology, molecule mechanism of cell signaling, disease genomics, molecular control of cell division and forensic medicine. These research areas cover colorectal cancer, molecular mechanism of chemical carcinogen, lymphatic tumors, targeted molecular structure of antitumor hematopoietic system, molecular mechanism and function of thrombotic diseases, disease signal model and genetic analysis, disease molecular genetics of forensic pathology, and reproductive pathophysiology.  We also collaborate with other well-known scholars all around the world to explorer the functional genomics, proteomics, signal transduction, ion channels, targeted therapy and regeneration of organs, tissues and cells of some major diseases. Recently, our discipline has introduced some foreign talents who focus on cancer biomarkers of selection and identification, molecular diagnosis of disease and tailored therapies.
Listed below are the momentous turning points of our discipline.

• In 1983, our department was authorized for master’s degree of pathology and pathophysiology.
• In 1984, authorized the key discipline in the province
• In 1986, our discipline was granted the permission for doctor’s degree of pathophysiology
• In 1997, our department was approved key discipline of “211 projects” in Zhejiang province
• In 2002,  authorized for doctor’s degree of pathophysiology and pathology
• Since 2003,  honored the key discipline of “985 project” in ZJU.
• In 2004, we got provincial key discipline grant for the second time
• In 2004, we are authorized the Judicial Expertise Center of ZJU by judiciary
• In 2006,Pathology and Pathophysiology were approved by the Ministry of Education as national key discipline(cultivating).
• In 2008, we were honored the first prize of the provincial research achievement award
• In 2008, we were honored the first prize of the provincial educational achievement
• In 2008, the curriculum pathology were honored the superior courses of the nation.
• In 2009, we established the provincial key laboratory of proteomics
• In 2009 , we gained the Key Project of the National Research Program of China grant
• In 2010, the curriculum basic medicine was honored the national superior course
• In 2010, we were honored the national excellent teaching team
