About Us
Discipline of neuorbiology, Basic medical science school of ZJU, integrates scientific research, teaching, and talents cultivation establishing an open research base. Our discipline combines neurophysiology, pharmacology, physiology and anatomy. Thus, we constructed a research platform covering cell biology, neuropharmacology, electrophysiology, biochemistry, immunology and ethology. Currently, equipped with a large number of advanced equipment, our laboratory building occupies over 1,700 square meters, and 2000 square meters reserved as talent introduction.

Research Area
The research area of our discipline is quiet clear. We mainly focus on the combination of neurobiology and diseases of the nervous system. We would like to translate the new concepts, new technology and new methods to the mechanism of brain disease pathogenesis, diagnosis and new drug targets in order to solve the problems occurring in the clinical. Our research areas are listed below.

• The molecular mechanisms of neural signaling transduction and synaptic transmission
• The molecular mechanisms of important chronic disease in brain (Intractable Epilepsy,  Parkinson's disease, cerebral injury(cerebral ischemia and cerebral trauma) and cerebral tumor)
• The regulation mechanisms of hypoxia , hypoxic-ischemic of brain – neural-endocrine network

Our research articles have been published in JBC、Neuropharmacology、Journal of neurochemistry、Glia、Hippocampus etc.. In recent years, we have published almost 200 papers, domestic and overseas, 70 of which were included in SCI.

Achievements
Our discipline has undertaken dozens of crucial research projects of the nation including three “973 projects”, one major project supported by a grant from the National Natural Science Foundation of China, one project supported by a grant from National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, two key projects supported by a grant from the National Natural Science Foundation of China,16 projects supported by a grant from the National Natural Science Foundation of China，three Trans-Century Training Program Foundation for the Talents by the Ministry of Education, two projects supported by the Foundation for Young Talents in Zhejiang Province and many other projects supported by the province.  We have been honored three National Science and Technology Conference Award, second prize of National Science and Technology divided into the Natural Science Award nominated by the ministry of education and 8 Provincial and ministerial level scientific and technological achievements.

Goals
Our discipline aims at preventing the brain disease through the new understanding of neuroscience. And we will make great efforts to meet international standards for brain research., and at the same time , cultivate talents with high level of neurobiological research skills.
