From July the 9th to 16th , some 40 student from prestigious universities in China, visited Zhejiang University School of Basic Medical Sciences, and happily enjoyed their Summer Camp at Zijingang campus.
As last year program, the 2011 Summer Camp focused on the development in biomedical sciences. During this one week program, students, who were not necessarily major in medicine but had particular interest in further study of disease and life sciences, participated the Camp. They listened to several seminars, like what is brain and how does it function; what is genome and the development of genome; what is cell stem and what use can it apply to cure disease… . They met professors in biomedical sciences and had nice talk with them. Take Professor Duan Shumin for example. He is one of the most known scientists in neurobiology, and elected as the member of Academy of Science.
Students also visited the laboratories, talked with other graduated students too. Meanwhile, a sight-seeing around the city was arranged. The programs left deep impression on the students. As one student, Ms. Zhang Jiajun, from the China Pharmaceutical University, expressed, “ I was most impressed not only by the achievement the professor had made but also by the their deep love and passion for science.”
